Who We Are
Saint Charles Main Street Foundation is a non-profit organization driven by the community's passion for a vibrant and connected downtown. We utilize The Main Street Approach™, a nationally recognized framework for downtown revitalization, to advocate for Saint Charles Historic Main Street as a walkable, mixed-use neighborhood while preserving our historic resources and enriching the community.
Our work spans 13 blocks within the St. Charles Main Street National Historic District, which is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. We are proud to support over 300 local businesses and organizations within this historic district, and we recognize the importance of preserving its unique character and history.
Through The Main Street Approach™, we focus on four key areas of revitalization: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization. We work to support new and existing businesses, enhance the physical and visual assets of our downtown, position our district as the center of the community, and foster community engagement.
We believe that a vibrant and walkable downtown is essential to the well-being of our community, and we work tirelessly to promote its growth and success. The Main Street Approach
St. Charles Main Street Foundation follows a proven approach to downtown revitalization known as The Main Street Approach™. Volunteer committees are dedicated to each of the following four areas of revitalization: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, Organization.
Economic Vitality
The Economic Vitality Committee focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyzes property development, and works to create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators that drive our local economy.
Design
The Design Committee works to enhance the physical and visual assets that are unique to our downtown community by supporting public art, beautification, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings.
Promotion
Promotion
The Promotion Committee positions our downtown district as the center of the community and hub of economic activity, while creating a positive image that showcases our community’s unique characteristics.
Organization
The Organization Committee creates a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort by cultivating partnerships, facilitating community involvement, and developing resources for our Main Street district.
